Willpower Message

In a gentle way, you can shake the world.
Mohandas Gandhi

Posing a question for my mind to solve while dreaming is an exercise I have practiced for nearly 20 years. I received a message the other night that is so profound and perfect that I can find no way to improve on it. So I decided to simply share it with you. The question I posed is, "Why do so many struggle with what we know as willpower?"

"Strength is disrupted by the psyche's pressing need to free itself from being identified with the material and the physical. The True Self wants, and needs, to be free to think and experience the archetypal mind for it knows this is the only way to know itself as infinite potential."

Balancing Act

Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance, order, rhythm and harmony.
Thomas Merton

When I look back 20 years, as I must in 2012, there are so many remarkable things... it's sometimes hard to focus in on the big-picture evolution of my life. But as I watch my son grow, I see the parallels, the universality of life, forever unfolding before me. If you ever feel lost in your quest for clarity, look to those you hold most closely to you. "They" will show you everything you need.
Shaun, like his mother, doesn't like to be told what to do. He, like his mother, needs time to connect with life and feels the demands of the world pull him away from that. As a result, he resists the demands without realizing that life without a certain amount of demands is uncomfortable as well. This is something he KNOWS, like his mother, but sometimes fails to remember when the demands of the day come knocking on his door.
Life is about balance; knowing your comfort zone and knowing when you must move past it; knowing your limitations and choosing to grow anyway. The trick with demands is knowing how to present them, to the mind and into our lives. We CAN choose to create demands that bring us joy, things we want to do, love to do,  instead of things we "have" to do. Balance is found in the process of learning how to know the difference.

Mind-Set

Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain, but to add color to my sunset sky.

Whether you're trying to create a healthy body or a full bank account, one of the keys to success is to be mentally "buff". You must be strong in your intent, clear in your vision and determined to accomplish whatever task is placed in front of you. No matter what, failure is not an option.  The question I always hear is "How do we acquire this mental mind-set and how do I sustain it long enough to reach my goals?"
We know that we only see 2000 bits of information per 400 trillion so we must conclude that these 2000 bits are not random and are, most likely, chosen. The world as we know it is really just our perception of it and our perception is ours to create. We can choose to stand in the 2000 bits that says we are good enough, life is good and we are safe or we can choose to stand in fear, feeling less than and powerless. The choice is up to us and there are 400 trillion options.
I always say that the hardest part about exercise is putting on my shoes. The hardest part about change is making the decision to do so. Happiness is a mind-set, it's a choice, just like abundance is a mind-set and a choice. We create everything in the mind first so take the time to frame your mind and exercise it every day. Success is achieved before you take the first step and greatness found in every moment of every day.

Believe you can and you're halfway there.
Theodore Roosevelt

Still Movement

"The mind has the same power as the hands; not only to grasp the world but to change it" Colin Wilson

A wise man once said "There is an art to getting things done and an art to leaving things undone". It seems we are all in such a hurry to get everything "done" that we forget the harvest is more the result of the natural process of growth than our tending of the garden. We forget the importance and efficiency of stillness but everything we do begins with the mind. Everything we create starts with an idea which then manifests itself as we act upon it mentally, emotionally and then physically.

But in our culture of action that we tend to leap over the most crucial step as we race to the finish line which is to make it so within the mind first. The creation of your life is first played out in your mind so take the time to understand how your thoughts are creating your world. Take responsibility for them, re-write them and THEN take action! Make the changes of the new year within your mind first and success will be yours in 2012!!
